The world’s first Micro Flash-Expansion Turbine (MFET) is started in a test chamber in Malibu, California.
The world-first MFET (shown running for the first time, right) ran for 00:01:35 at approximately 15% power before the intitial start-up test was completed. Subsequent tests led to the MFET running for longer times and progressively higher power levels, culminating in a total of 29 hours of cumulative running time, with a maximum power level of 80%. The proof-of-concept prototype, shown here, was retired so that the data could be analyzed and improvements to the prototype could be implemented. The first prototype, dubbed the PA-3MFET is on display at Nitro-Turbodyne’s Lab Facility in Camarillo, CA.
